Post-doctoral Research Position in Proteomics Informatics at the Georgetown University Medical Center
The Edwards Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology, Georgetown University Medical Center, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in proteomics informatics.The Edwards Lab (http://edwardslab.bmcb.georgetown.edu), funded by the National Cancer Institute's Clinical Proteomics Technology Initiative to develop informatics techniques for characterizing alternative splicing and coding SNPs using tandem mass-spectrometry, conducts cutting-edge research using a variety of computational techniques to improve the sensitivity and specificity of peptide identification and the accuracy and reproducibility of protein quantitation analysis workflows.
Candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, molecular biology/biochemistry, or related disciplines, and have significant scientific computing, bioinformatics, and/or software development experience, strong written and oral communication skills, be highly motivated, and have the ability to work on a variety of projects. Experience in proteomics informatics is highly desirable. Candidates with outstanding programming skills, but no prior research experience in proteomics or bioinformatics, who are interested in making a career switch to bioinformatics, are also encouraged to apply.
